Kazakhstan Davis Cup team

The Kazakh Davis Cup team is the national team of Kazakhstan tennis. The Davis Cup is the most important competition for national teams in men's tennis, similar to the Fed Cup for the women.

History

Since 1995, Kazakhstan takes part in the Davis Cup, some players have already played previously for the team of the former Soviet Union. The best result achieved Kazakhstan in 2011 on his second participation in the World Group. After a 3-2 win over the Czech Republic, the team moved on to the quarter -finals, but then it lost to Argentina with 0:5. The most successful player is Alexei Kedrijuk, who won a total of 66 games in 15 years. This result was repeated Kazakhstan 2013 and 2014.

A special feature of the team is the origin of most players: Due to the poor prospects in the Russian Davis Cup team, several players have already decided to accept the Kazakh citizenship in order to continue to start in the Davis Cup. In summer 2008, Mikhail Kukushkin Shchukin and Yuri could be, for example, Andrei Golubev, naturalized at the same time. Yevgeny Korolev also started his professional career working under the Russian flag. Due to the sudden qualitative improvement succeeded the team promptly to advance to the World Group.
