United States Davis Cup team

The Davis Cup team in the United States is the tennis national of the United States of Lords. She is the most successful team in the Davis Cup and has won the title 32 times so far.

History

The U.S. was the first who managed to win the Davis Cup. A 3-0 victory over the British team they brought to this success. In the second competition in 1902 they hit the UK again. It was not until a year later they were beaten by the tennis team from the island. 1904 and 1907 they did not reach the final, in 1905 and 1906 and from 1908 to 1911 they reached the final, but they were not champions. Two years later they were champions for the third time, and from 1920 to 1926 they were seven times consecutively Davis Cup winner. Then they lost four finals in succession against France. 1932 defeated the U.S. team again against France. Until the beginning of the Second World War, there were three finals, of which they won two. In 1947, they won four times against Australia, then they lost four times in the final against them. Over time Australia made ​​the United States the title of often disputed. 1963 and 1968 could win against them. After you could win five times until 1972 the title of the world's best in tennis is much closer together. Until 1995, you could still win the title a few times, but it would take until 2007 until they were able again to prevail in the finals of Portland against Russia.
