1949 Davis Cup

The 1949 Davis Cup was the 38th edition of the competition organized by the ITF for men's national teams in tennis. The competition was held in two continental zones of Europe and the Americas zone. The winners of the two zones played a playoff for the final.

In continental playoff against Italy to Australia put clear by 5-0, but was defeated in the subsequent from August 26 to 28 held final defending champion United States clearly with 1:4. It was the 17th title so far in the U.S., and their fourth in a row.

Final

In the final between defending champion United States and Australia, the United States could clearly prevail 4-1. It was the seventh U.S. finals in a row, and the sixth playoff against Australia in series. The United States won the 17th title of the United States so far.
