Bruno Zuppiger

Bruno Zuppiger ( born February 24, 1952 in St. Gallen; homeland justified in Hinwil and Rapperswil-Jona/ehemals Jona SG ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP). From 1999 until his resignation on September 10, 2012, he was a member of the National Council.

Education and work

Zuppiger studied after high school from 1972 to 1976 at the University of St. Gallen ( HSG ) and the teacher's seminar in Zurich. He worked from 1971 to 1972 as a teacher in Goldingen ( SG) from 1976 till 1982 in Hinwil ( ZH). From 1982 to 1995 he was secretary and later director of the Cantonal trade association Zurich.

Since 1995 he has served as President and Chief Executive Officer in the field of economic and management consultancy with the Zuppiger & Partner AG. From 2000 to 2008 he was Director of the kitchens Association Switzerland (KVS ). From 2002 to 2010 he was president of the organization brand Swiss Label, 2004, he was president of the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland - Baltic region. From 2006 to 2013 he was Director of the Albis Real Estate Management GmbH in Zurich. From 2010 to 2011 was President of the Swiss Trade Association Zuppiger ( sgv ).

Since 2011 he is chairman of the Swiss-China Management Group AG, since 2012 the holding company Engelberg Industrial Group AG and the Management service EN Management AG. From 2004 to 2012, he was a member of the Board of the Planzer Holding AG in Dietikon and at the PGMM Switzerland AG in Winterthur, most recently as Vice President. From 1976 to 2012, he was a director at the Beck Keller AG in rain village. From 2005 to 2013 he was a member of the Board of Albis Invest AG in Zurich and from 2007 to 2013 he was a member of the Foundation Board of the papal Swiss Guard ( Pontificia Cohors Helvetica ) from 2005 to 2010, the Continua - Foundation for the Preservation of pension coverage in Zurich.

After the journalist Urs Paul Engeler Zuppiger had accused in an article in the world week in December 2011, irregularities in the administration of the estate of a former staff member, the prosecutor of the canton of Zurich opened on January 6, 2012, a criminal case against Zuppiger. On 1 October 2012, the public prosecutor brought against him and one of his former employees charged with the accusation of having used misappropriated a total of around 240,000 francs, inter alia, to pay bills of their own company. In the context of a summary procedure recognized the accused this allegation and agreed with prosecutors on conditional prison sentences of 13 months each with a probationary period of two years and a fine of CHF 1500 each. On January 16, 2013, the District Court of Zurich sentenced the accused to those sanctions.

Policy

Zuppiger is a member of the SVP since 1976. He was from 1982 to 1990 local council in Hinwil. 1988 to 1994 he was president of the SVP District Hinwil, from 1993 he was a board member of the SVP in the canton of Zurich.

From 1991 to 1999 represented Zuppiger the SVP in the Zurich Cantonal Council. He was a member and chairman of several committees such as the Finance Committee ( 1995-1999). In 1999, he was Chairman of the Economic Affairs and Taxation CTE.

In the parliamentary elections of 1999 was elected to the National Assembly, where he was a member of the Finance Committee ( sub-committee president EVD ) and from 2003 a member of the Committee on Finance of the Federal Assembly, 2005 and 2009, its president. From 2003 to 2007 he was a member of the Commission for Economic Affairs and Taxation, from 2007 he was a member of the Defence Committee of the National Council (2008-2009 President ).

Prior to the Federal election 2011 Zuppiger was nominated by the SVP Group with Jean- François Rime as a candidate. After the global week raised the above-mentioned allegations in the inheritance matter, Zuppiger withdrew his candidacy. In its place, the President of the Swiss Farmers' Union, Hansjörg Walter was nominated as the candidate of the Federal SVP. As a result Zuppiger resigned as President of the Swiss Trade Association ( sgv ) back. Private

Zuppiger is married to his second wife, five children, three from his first marriage. He lives in Hinwil in the canton of Zurich. Zuppiger was colonel of the Swiss Armed Forces, 1997-2001 commander of the rescue Regiment 91
