Brynjulf Bergslien

Brynjulf ​​Larsen Bergslien or Brunjulf ​​Bergslien ( born November 12, 1830 in Voss, † September 18, 1898 in Oslo) was a Norwegian sculptor. He is a brother of the painter Knut Bergslien and uncle of painter Nils Bergslien. Two of his students were William Robert Rasmussen (1879-1965) and Gustav Vigeland, perhaps the most significant sculptors in Norway.

Bergslien received his artistic training at Jens Adolf Jerichau and Herman Wilhelm Bissen in Copenhagen. He then moved in 1861 by Kristiana (Oslo ), where he was residing with the exception of 1864, which he spent in Rome. The best known is mountain Liens equestrian statue of Karl Johan on the Slottsplassen ( Palace Square ) in Oslo, but he also created other famous monuments in Oslo, among others, by Henrik Wergeland on the Eidsvollsplatz, Johannes Brun on the Bankplassen ( bench ) and Peter Chr Asbjørnsen in Oslo -St. Hans Haugen.

Brynjulf ​​Bergslien was buried in the Vår Frelsers Gravlund.
