Book is a district of the city Tangermünde in the district of Stendal, in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography
The village is situated near the left bank of the Elbe book, the same forms the border to the district Jerichower country. The towns of Stendal and Tangermünde lie north of book.
History
Even at the Carolingian period should have passed a place here. 1335 book was called castrum et oppidium, so festivals and city. The place is the parent company of one hundred years already mentioned above the same noble family. Book was one of several market towns in the Altmark and a fortified by a double ring wall place. Book has never developed into a real city. The nearby Tangermünde had the center function in this area. Repeated flooding in flood leading Elbe and other disasters prevented the growth of the place. Book remained a dominantly agricultural village despite the city charter.
Until 31 December 2009 book was a separate municipality and was a member of the now defunct administrative community Tangermünde.
Due to a change in the contract area of the municipal council decided to book on 9 June 2009 that the church Bölsdorf is incorporated into the city Tangermünde. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.
After incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality book book was part of the city Tangermünde. For powered finished my community the village constitution according to § § 86 et seq of the Municipal Code of Saxony -Anhalt has been introduced. The municipality is my finished book and future district book was the village of receiving Tangermünde. In the eingemeindeten community and village nunmehrigen book a Ortschaftsrat was formed with nine members including mayor.

Coat of arms
Blazon: "In a red Roland bareheaded in silver armor; in his right hand a sword erect holding, left leg covered with a gold shield with a black double-headed eagle. "
The coat of arms was designed in 1994 by Jörg Kommunalheraldiker Mantzsch and admitted to the approval process.
Attractions
1580 was the Roland of book, a 3.50 m high sandstone figure of Roland, erected on the square of book. Before that, there should have been a wooden Roland. The construction of the Town Hall in 1680 had required a move the figure to the town hall entrance. Already in 1683 collapsed in the town hall tower and the Roland was smashed. After the restoration in 1690, the head was destroyed by fire in the town hall and replaced by the present head. This was probably not based on the original. 1693 drew the Roland to its present stand around in front of the Lehnschulzenhof.
Economy and infrastructure
In the municipality of book is the " Center of Ecology, nature and environment protection" ( ZÖNU ). In the book of ZÖNU operates with NABU a Ökoscheune, together with other owners of a village hotel. Agriculture and tourism are the main sources of income.
Transport links
From book from roads lead to Tangermünde, Tangerhütte and Elbfähre by greaves. There buses stop and call buses of the regional transport company West Saxons ( RVW ) stendalbus under the brand name. In Tangermünde is connected by train to Stendal, in Tangerhütte a twelve kilometer connections to Magdeburg, Stendal and Schwerin.
