Bud Spangler

Robert " Bud " Spangler ( born December 7, 1938 in Norwalk, Ohio; † January 16, 2014 ) was an American jazz drummer, broadcaster and music producer.

Bud Spangler moved the end of the 1950s, from Ohio to Lansing to study at Michigan State University. During his studies he played with Benny Poole and he worked as a radio DJ of the University radio station WKAR - FM. Beginning of the 1970s he worked in the Detroit jazz scene as a musician and producer for the label Strata Records, including identification with Cox's Contemporary Jazz Quintet ( CJQ ), which also emerged recordings for Blue Note Records, further comprising Lyman Woodard and the mid- 1980s with Jessica Williams and the Detroit musicians Association Tribe, including Phil Ranelin and Marcus Belgrave. In the 1990s he lived in Northern California, led by Tom Peron in the Bay Aera a quartet and was active as a radio presenter of the San Mateoer station KCSM - FM, where he led the program Sunday Night Suites hosted for 25 years. As a producer he worked in California, inter alia, with Taylor Eigsti, Mark Levine, Shirley Horn, Ed Reed and Cedar Walton. In the field of jazz, he was involved 1979-2011 to 28 recording sessions. Spangler died on January 16, 2014 from lung cancer.
