Buddy Hackett

Buddy Hackett ( August 31, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York City; † June 30, 2003 in Malibu, California ), actually Leonard Hacker, was an American comedian and actor.

Life

Hackett attended the high school where he played in the American football team. Even in school he became interested in acting and directed a school play. During World War II he served in the United States Army in an air defense unit. After his return from the military, he began studying acting and appeared initially unsuccessful as a comedian in a night club in Brooklyn on. After he was much more successful in Los Angeles, he received 1952 first engagements as a comedian in Las Vegas, where he his time became one of the most successful comedians.

In 1954 he appeared for the first time on Broadway, in the 1960s, he had more exposure to musicals and revues. Outside the U.S. gained Hackett notoriety for his role in a totally, totally crazy world as well as a mechanic Tennessee Steinmetz in The Love Bug, the first Disney production of Herbie movie series. Later in his career, he guest starred in television series such as The Love Boat, Murder, She Wrote and Sabrina - totally bewitched! on. In 1999 he had a recurring role in the series Action, but this was discontinued after 13 episodes. He also worked as a voice actor in the Disney production The Little Mermaid and its continuation in the year 2000.

Hackett was married and had three children.
