Federal highway 224 ( Abbreviation: B 224 ) is a federal road in North Rhine -Westphalia.

Course

The B224 runs from Raesfeld in southern Munsterland through the center of the Ruhr over Gelsenkirchen- Buer and food in the Bergische Land to Solingen.

From the junction Gelsenkirchen- Hassel B runs 224 on the A52, which then terminates short of Gladbeck and is again maintained as B 224. Also the motorway junction Essen- Nord is a part of the planned A 52

Between the motorway junctions Velbert -Nord ( A 44 ) and Sonnborner Cross ( A 46 ) B 224 was expanded highway-like and since 1 September 2007 part of the A 535

History

1815, the food - Solinger provincial road of Dornap was created by Vohwinkel. The section of Vohwinkel to Solingen was completed in 1841.

In 1932 introduced numbering of the German trunk roads, the road from Straelen on the border with the Netherlands over Duisburg, Essen and Solingen to Lennep as the highway was designated 60, 1934 to a national highway. When the empire road network was expanded mid- 30s, the portion of food to Solingen part of the new national highway 224, was from 1949 Federal Road 224
