Buranovskiye Babushki

Buranowskije babushkas (Russian Бурановские бабушки, Udmurt Брангуртысь песянайёс, German grandmothers Buranowo ), English spelling Buranovskiye Babushki, is a Russian singing group. It exists since more than 40 years and represented Russia with the song Party for Everybody at the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, where she took second place with 259 points.

The eight women, including six singers, with an average age of about 66 years had become established in March 2012 at the preliminaries in Moscow with the song Party for Everybody against Dima Bilan and 24 competitors. The oldest singer was 76 years old. They sing in English and udmurtischer language.

Also, they covered songs like Hotel California the Eagles and Yesterday by the Beatles. Women have in the costume of their Udmurt home in the western Urals. Your goal is to earn enough money to renovate a church in her home village. They were occurred in the national qualifying round in 2010 and had occupied third place.

  • Natalia Pugacheva Jakovlewna ( Наталья Пугачёва, born November 28, 1935)
  • Yekaterina Semyonovna Schkljajewa ( Екатерина Шкляева, born November 2, 1937)

The artistic director of the group is Olga Nikolaevna Tuktarjowa ( Ольга Туктарёва, born April 26, 1968). Elizabeth Sarbatowa ( Елизавета Зарбатова, * 1926) occurs occasionally as a guest singer.

During the Euro Vision Song Contest 2012 in Baku next to Olga Tuktarjowa were the singers Granja Baissarowa, Galina Konewa, Valentina Pjatschenko, Natalia Pugacheva and Yekaterina Schkljajewa on stage. The rest were not allowed to occur because the ESC rules prohibit more than six people on stage. The central figure of the performance was Pugacheva, whose diminutive stature and warmth were highlighted during the performance. She also wears the baking sheet on the stage, the Konewa brings out of the oven.
