Burgas Lakes

Castle Asseen or lakes of Burgas ( Bulgarian Бургаски езера, Burgaski ezera ) is a seascape of Burgas in Bulgaria in close proximity to the Black Sea. It includes the Burgas Lakes Lake Mandra Lake, Atanassow Lake Pomorie Lake Nature Reserve Poda and the reservoirs Medowo and Poroj. It takes a total of 9,200 hectares and is located along the South-North migration, Via pontica ( migration ) and forms an important hotspot. The Burgas, Atanassov, and Pomorie Lake, as well as the nature reserve Poda are included in the Ramsar List. Other protected areas in the region are Usungeren, sealed genes Skele, Korijata and the mouth of the river Isworska.

In the area of the castle Asseen are 317 species of birds, representing 70 percent of the avifauna of Bulgaria, proven. Of this amount, 83 species in Bulgaria on the red list and over 170 species of European importance. The Nature Reserve of Lake Atanassow the smallest mammal in the world is to be found, the Etruscan shrew.
