Büro Center Nibelungenplatz

The Office Center Nibelungenplatz (also known as BCN, formerly Shell Tower ) is a skyscraper in Frankfurt am Main. Originally nearly 90 meters high building was occupied on 15 October 1966, served as the headquarters of the Shell Group. 1993, the building has been carefully restored and it increased to 110 meters. To date, the BCN is the tallest building in the district of Northrend.

Location

The tower is located on Nibelungenplatz, an important and busy junction between the districts of Northrend Northrend West and East. There, the Nibelungen and Rothschildallee ( Allenring B 8 ) meet on the Friedberger Landstraße (B 3) and the district roads Nordendstraße Hall and Garden Street.

History

Construction

The tower was part of a comprehensive all the north of Frankfurt Alleenring development plan, which provided for a conversion to freeway and tower blocks at all major intersections. The plan, however, was not followed up on another building at the intersection with the Escher Landstraße. The skyscraper at Nibelungenplatz was built from 1964 to 1966 for the oil companies Shell and was the first of Frankfurt high-rise that was over 100 m high. Rebuilding

The original the unadorned international style following façade curtain aluminum plates no longer exists. In 1993, the high-rise building was rebuilt by Novotny Mähner Associates, while it was covered with the current glass facade and provided with a panoramic elevator. Others

  • The office tower at Nibelungenplatz was until 2013 a permanent location for the ZDF television series A Case for Two, because the lawyer has his fictitious firm in this building.
