Busserolles

Busserolles, Occitan Busseiròla, is a commune with 561 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Dordogne in the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the district Nontron and Canton Bussière- Badil. It also forms part of the Périgord -Limousin Regional Natural Park.

Etymology

The Occitan word bussairòla is a diminutive of bussiera (French Bussière, in turn derived from buis ) and thus means " a small box trees covered area ".

Geography

Busserolles is the most northerly community in the Dordogne and has a very large area of over 30 square kilometers. The population density is very low and is below 20 inhabitants / km ².

The municipality is located away from busy roads. About the D 88 has a hand connection to the north extending D 699 of Saint -Mathieu in the Haute- Vienne to Montbron in the Charente, on the other hand, for running in the South D 91 of Piégut -Pluviers after Montbron. Busserolles is located on Trieux, a left tributary of the Tardoire. Geology

The territory of Busserolles is completely underlain by Variscan basement rocks of the north-western Massif Central. Among metamorphic rocks such as paragneiss, Metatexite and Anatexite. Among the plutonic rocks is one of Piégut -Pluviers granodiorite, which occupies the entire southern half. Associated with the granodiorite is its northern apophysis, which is designed as porphyritic micro- granite. History

In Busserolles evidence supporting the Gallo - Roman culture are available. The Romanesque village church was built in the 12th century.
