Buxières-sous-les-Côtes
Buxières -sous -les- Cotes is a commune of 277 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Meuse in the Lorraine region. The place is located in Canton Vigneulles- lès -Hattonchâtel in the Arrondissement COMMERCY.
Geography
The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine at Lac de Madine. The municipality is formed by the villages of Buxières -sous -les- Côtes, Buxerulles and Woinville.
History
Buxières -sous -les- Cotes was first mentioned as Buxarias in the year 709. The name alludes to the beech trees that were planted here.
