Byron Shire

Byron is located in the far northeast of the state on the Pacific coast about 790 km north of the city of Sydney and 150 km south of Brisbane. The area includes 58 districts and towns, including Bangalow, Billinudgel, Brunswick Heads, Byron Bay, Federal, Mullumbimby, Ocean Shores, South Golden Beach, Suffolk Park, Yelgun and parts of Clunes and Newrybar. The seat of the Shire Council is located in the town of Mullumbimby, where about 3,100 inhabitants.

Cape Byron is the most easterly point of the Australian continent.

Management

The Byron Shire Council has ten members, nine Councillor and Chairman and Mayor ( mayor), who are elected by the residents of the LGA. Byron is not divided into districts.
