Cabaj-Čápor

Cabaj - Čápor is a great community in Nitriansky Region in western Slovakia. It is situated on the river Cabajský Potok, 9 km southwest of Nitra in the Danube hills ( Podunajská pahorkatina ). Besides the two official parts of the municipality, and Cabaj Čápor, are located in the surrounding districts, other unofficial Fizes, Hrúšťov, Nový Cabaj, Riegler and Pereš.

The community was for the first time in 1156 as Copur ( CABAJ ), or 1246 as Choboy ( Čápor ), mentioned. The two places were until 1918 in the Kingdom of Hungary in the county Neutra and carried here by the Hungarian name Cabaj and Csápor. They were joined in 1925, but separated again in 1939. Between 1948 and 1974 contributed Čápor the slightly different name Čápor, after an administrative reform in 1974, the two belong to the previously independent communities back together.
