Cesium is cesium salt of acetic acid with the molecular formula CH3COOCs.

Production and representation

Cesium acetate may be prepared by salt-forming reaction of cesium hydroxide and acetic acid.

Similarly, the synthesis of cesium carbonate and acetic acid is possible with evolution of carbon dioxide.

Properties

Anhydrous cesium crystallizes in the hexagonal crystal system in the space group P6 / m with lattice parameters a = 1488.0 pm and c = 397.65 pm. In the unit cell contains six formula units.

The thermal decomposition of cesium is completed at 450 ° C. The end product is cesium oxide.

Use
