California Institute of the Arts

The California Institute of the Arts (abbreviated CalArts ) is a private art school in Valencia in Los Angeles County, which was founded ( established in 1883 ) in 1961 under the direction of Walt and Roy Disney as a merger of the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music and the Chouinard Art Institute ( 1921) was established. Inspired by the Bauhaus ideas creative and performing arts were united under one roof.

The university offers courses at Bachelor's and Master's degrees in the fields of art, music, dance, film and theater. Aided by the open architecture of the building, the individual departments in constant contact and offer joint courses.
