Caloocan

Caloocan ( Tagalog: Kalookan ) is a major city in the Philippines. It is part of the capital region Metro Manila and with 1.48904 million inhabitants (as of 1 May 2010) to Quezon City and Manila, the third largest city in the country.

The name comes from the Tagalog Caloocan and is derived from the root word lo -ok from; kalook - lookan (or kaloob - looban ) means something like " innermost area " This is geographically at least on the southern part Caloocans, which is surrounded by the cities of Manila, Navotas City, Malabon City, Valenzuela City and Quezon City.

Caloocan consists of two physically unconnected parts. The southern part borders directly north of Manila. The northern part, however, lies on the edge of Metro Manila and is separated by the City of Valenzuela Caloocan -South. In Caloocan there is a campus of the University of the East.
