Cameron Earl

Cameron C. Earl (* 1923 in Sculcoates, Yorkshire, † June 18 1952 in Nuneaton, Warwickshire ) was a British designer of racing cars. He is considered the first casualties of the formula 1

After the Second World War, Earl was sent by the British Intelligence Objectives Sub-Committee to Germany to study the development of the 1930 Grand Prix racing cars from Mercedes- Benz and Auto Union there. Following detailed discussions with the former designers, he made blueprints of the race car. His reports published Earl aged 25 in a book.

Beginning of the 1950s was Earl technical consultant in Gerard Racing Team, a private racing team of Bob Gerard, in the formula 1 and the British Formule Libre pre-war models of ERA began.

During test runs on the motor -Industry Research Association test track ( MIRA ) to Earls ERA overturned and the 29- year-old Briton died from a fractured skull at the hospital a short time later. Shortly after the accident a test ban seaters on the MIRA test track was imposed.
