Caminhos do Cinema Português

Caminhos do Cinema Português is an annual that takes place in Coimbra film festival devoted exclusively to the Portuguese film.

History

The festival was the first time after the summer semester of 1988 by film students at the University of Coimbra as the Mostra de Cinema Português (eg " film actor of Portuguese cinema" ) organized as a complement to the lectures for foreign students. The festival was organized by the Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos ( " Center for Film Research" ) of the culture section of the student union Associação Académica de Coimbra, in cooperation with the Faculdade de Letras, the Faculty of Arts of the University. Were shown films by Paulo Rocha, Luís Filipe Rocha, João César Monteiro and Manoel de Oliveira.

It was followed by two more festivals in 1989 and 1990, which were also designed as a thematic film look without competitions. In 1990, the program was divided into three sections. In the division O Documento ( " Document " ) for the documentary were shown films such as Trás -os- Montes by António Reis and Margarida Cordeiro, Belarmino of Fernando Lopes, or A Fuga by Luís Filipe Rocha. In the division O Texto ( "The text ") for the film adaptation ran et al Amor de Perdição ( Manoel de Oliveira ), Conversa Acabada ( João Botelho ) and Crónica dos Bons Malandros ( Fernando Lopes ). The division O Imaginário ( " Imagination " ) presented Verdes Anos by Paulo Rocha, To Adeus Português João Botelho and Others

It was not until seven years later organized the Centro de Estudos Cinematográficos the next event, no longer than Mostra, but already as a festival. The Fourth Caminhos do Cinema Português ( "Paths of the Portuguese cinema" ) showed in 1997 an expanded selection of Portuguese films and had henceforth a special focus on new and little works shown.

With the V. Caminhos do Cinema Português 1998, it was also functionally a festival for the first time were films here in competitions, and an international jury awarded first prizes. Even an audience prize was awarded. Later sections for film schools and events for kindergartens and primary schools were added.

Since 2003, workshops and colloquia are aligned with critics and filmmakers during the festival.

2011 were shown a total of 120 films, 70 of which ran in the competition.

Founded in Cannes 1947 International Film Club Association International Federation of Film Clubs ( FICC | IFSS ) further designates here a separate jury to evaluate the English or French subtitled films in competition and annually awards the Don Quixote Prize, with the participation in the annual international film Festival of the association is connected in Italy.
