Campeonato Gaúcho
The Campeonato Gaúcho de Futebol is the football championship of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. It was first held in 1919 and has since seen a year - with the exception of 1923 and 1924 - instead.
Record winner are SC Internacional of Porto Alegre with more than 40 titles, followed by city rivals Grêmio. In addition to three other clubs from the capital succeeded eleven clubs from the province to break the dominance of the two big clubs. Only the Guarany FC from Bagé managed this twice, and this in the first half of the last century. Last gained from the EC Juventude Provoinz 1998 and 2000 SER Caxias, both from Caxias do Sul.
