Canadian Special Operations Forces Command
The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command ( CANSOFCOM ) is a partially cross- contending force high command, which lists all the special forces of the Canadian military.
Current commander Brigadier - General of CANSOFCOM is D. Michael Day, support the Canadian Forces Decoration.
Order
In addition to the operational command of special forces, the CANSOFCOM is also responsible for the elaboration of education policies, application doctrines and procurement plans of these units. It coordinates the various special task forces whose training and providing safe and advises the Canadian General Staff in matters of special operations management and strategic planning.
The CANSOFCOM is to be planned in a position as an independent commando operations and to lead, but also to support the Canada Command ( CANCOM ) and the authority responsible for foreign missions Canadian Expeditionary Force Command ( CEFCOM ), with all his disposal available resources.
Organization
The CANSOFCOM is composed of the following regiments:
- Joint Task Force 2 ( JTF2 ), a special unit for combating terrorism and hostage rescue
- 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron
- Canadian Joint Incident Response Unit ( CJIRU )
- Canadian Special Operations Regiment
Equipment
All members of the wear a brown beret regardless of their original branches of the armed force or its area of operation, with the insignia of their respective branch of service (or unit ).
Demarcation
Although the elite soldiers of the Canadian Forces go through a rigorous selection process, not all special uses are subsumed under the term Special Forces. For example, there are special courses for snipers, paratroopers and reconnaissance ( tracker ) with the army and combat diver in the Navy that do not apply in Canada as Special Forces, but are formed above average. The difference between SF / Special Forces and SOF / Special Operation Forces is made as in most armies of the world. However, as the acronym says it is the CSOFCom to own strike force that includes not all Specialized forces ( SF).
