Cândido Barbosa

Joaquim Cândido Barbosa Venda Moreira ( born December 31, 1974 in Rebordosa ) is a former Portuguese cyclist.

Cândido Barbosa won the 1995 for the first time two stages in the Tour of Algarve. Also in 1996 he could again decide for two stages; In the same year he was on the Isle of Man European Champion in the road race ( U23 ). 1997, when he drove for Maia - Cin, he won all the stages and thus the overall standings for the first time. Then he moved to the Spanish pro team Banesto. Here he was less successful, but won in 2001 his first stage at the Tour of Portugal. In 2005, he secured the time trial title at the national championships, and in 2007 he was Portuguese road champion.

Twice - in 1996 and 2004 - Barbosa denied the road race at the Olympics, but with little success: In 1996, he was ranked 112, and in 2004 he gave up.

Overall, Barbosa won during his cycling career 99 stage wins, mainly in races in Spain and Portugal. After the 2010 season, in which he won the Grande Prémio Internacional de Torres Vedras, he finished his career.
