Capay Valley AVA

Capay Valley AVA ( recognized since 20 December 2002) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area is in the northwest of the administrative area Yolo County and borders the counties Napa County, Lake County and Colusa County.

The protected designation of origin has been set up at the instigation of the largest winery in the region, the Capay Valley Vineyards.

Although the temperatures are generally higher than in the more northern Napa Valley AVA, drive the vines almost two weeks later from. Therefore, the very late ripening grape varieties in the field are denied.

The grape varieties used are mainly from the Bordeaux or the Rhone.
