Cape Jervis

Cape Jervis is a small coastal village with about 300 inhabitants in the Australian state of South Australia. Cape Jervis is located about 110 kilometers south of Adelaide on the southwestern tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The place is located in the administrative area ( LGA) Yankalilla District Council.

Matthew Flinders named Cape Jervis in 1802 after John Jervis, an admiral of the British Navy.

Cape Jervis is especially important as a ferry port to ferry to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Iceland. In addition, Cape Jervis is the starting point of the Heysen Trail, a 1200 km long hiking trail that ends only in the Flinders Ranges.

Near the town there are two beaches, the sandy Morgan 's Beach and the pebble beach Fisheries Beach. There you can find remains of an old whaling station.
