Capilano River

Template: Infobox River / Obsolete

The river Capilano in British Columbia, Canada, flows from north to south through the Coast Mountains and empties into the Burrard Inlet, opposite Stanley Park. He is one of the three main sources of drinking water for residents of Greater Vancouver. With the built in 1954 Cleveland Dam, a reservoir was created for this purpose.

The river runs through the coastal rain forest and through a granite gorge, which in places is more than 40 meters high.

The Capilano leads mainly to snow melt and rain water.

Sports and Recreation

The river is only ten minutes away from the city center and popular with kayakers. He is categorized as class III, although it can be dangerous at high water. A kayaker died in 1998 at high water in Capilano.

Every year in March, on the Capilano for charitable purposes, a duck races.
