Caracal, Romania

Caracal is a town in Olt County in Lesser Wallachia in Romania. They had about 35,500 inhabitants in 2007.

Caracal is located on a plateau between the low-lying river Jiu and Olt.

Attractions

In the town are the ruins of a tower, which was built in 217 by the Roman emperor Caracalla. After this ruling, the city was named. Other tourist destinations include the Church of All Saints, and the memory - house of the rebel Iancu Jiancu.
