CargoJet Airways, founded in 2002 is a Canadian cargo airline. It focuses primarily on night flights where at night they fly cargo between different cities. In this business segment, it is the largest airline of Canada.

History

The history of CargoJet Airways begins in 2001, when the current CEO of CargoJet Airways and businessman Ajay Virmani acquires 50 percent stake in Canada 3000 Cargo, the freight business of the ailing Canada 3000 Airlines. The purchase was completed in July 2001. In January 2002, Ajay Virmani took over the remaining 50 per cent of Canada 3000 Cargo, which he was the sole owner of the airline. The former parent company of Canada 3000 Cargo, Canada 3000 itself presented its flight operations in November 2001 due to insolvency. He planned an expansion and renamed the company in 2002 in order CargoJet Airways. This step is now seen as the foundation stone of the company.

In the following years the traffic figures of CargoJet Airways grew and new aircraft were hired. The focus in the expansion was on the night freight traffic.

On 17 July 2007 CargoJet Airways took over the freight department of the Canadian Georgian Express Limited. Georgian Express was active in the freight business since 1994 and served at the time of acquisition, with a fleet of freighters of type 3 and 4 Beech 1900 Cessna Caravan, also cargo aircraft, an extensive regional network, serving about 10,500 flights per year. They generated a turnover of about ten million Canadian dollars. The acquisition price amounted to 1.4 million Canadian dollars zuzüglicher payments for the fleet. After the takeover named CargoJet Airways, the numerous synergies for their own core network hoped that through the acquisition of a regional network, the freight segment acquired the Georgian Express in CargoJet regional order.

The expansion of the airline continued and so took CargoJet Airways the first of May of 2008, a 51 -percent share, and thus the majority share of the active in eastern Canada Prince Edward Air as well as an option to purchase the remaining 49 percent in Prince Edward Air in the next three to five years. This was preceded by the beginning of a press statement in which CargoJet Airways to expand its regional subsidiary offer CargoJet Regional, which is held to 55 percent of Skylink Express and 55 percent of CargoJet Airways, was planning to take over 49 per cent of this same airline. In May, the step could be carried out after negotiations. Prince Edward Air, founded in 1989, operates in eastern Canada, a regional air cargo network with scheduled services, but also performs full charter cargo flights and ambulance flights. Other lines of business of the Prince Edward Air are aircraft maintenance, and trade. With Prince Edward Air together by buying at CargoJet Airways 2008, a total of around 130 employees and 21 aircraft in use.

In addition, in 2008 ran at CargoJet Airways to Dato excluding freight Boeing 727 operating a fleet modernization and expansion program. On January 8, 2008 announced CargoJet Airways that it plans concretely, two freighter aircraft type Boeing 767-200 Extended Range to take over. The first aircraft of type Boeing 767-200 Extended Range met in the base at the Hamilton International Airport on August 7, 2008. a sister aircraft followed in the following month of September. Both aircraft had flown the longest time of their lives at American Airlines passenger seating, before they were converted to freighters. Originally, the two aircraft were built in 1984 and 1985. Almost simultaneously, has been incorporated into freighter configuration, a Boeing 757-200, 767-200 Extended Range which arrived a little earlier than the first Boeing already on 4 August 2008 at the Hamilton International Airport. The Boeing 757-200 was delivered in 1990 and was transported to its conversion to a freighter for CargoJet Airways for many European airlines passengers.

The subsidiary CargoJet Regional, which includes the portion of Prince Edward Air and the former Georgian Express and so far about 55 percent of CargoJet and 45 per cent of SkyLink Express was held, was completely sold on SkyLink Express 2010. The sale of the 55 -percentage - proportion was completed on 15 July 2010. CargoJet Airways began focusing only on the business with large aircraft.
