Carl Heinrich 'Bipontinus' Schultz

Carl Heinrich Schultz (* June 30, 1805 in Zweibrücken, † December 17, 1867 in Bad Durkheim ), called by Latinization of his birthplace Bipontinus Schultz, was a German physician and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Sch.Bip. "; was once called " Schultz Bip. " common.

Life

His older brother Frederick William Schultz (1804-1876) was also a botanist. In 1840 Carl Heinrich Schultz, then physician at Deidesheimer hospital, gathered 25 scholars from the Palatinate and surrounding areas for the establishment of an association to itself; then the POLLICHIA was founded on October 6, 1840, an initially purely scientific operating company. It was named this after the Kaiserslautern physician and botanist Johann Adam Pollich ( 1740-1780 ). Since an amendment in 1976 is called the association " POLLICHIA Association for Nature Research and Care eV ".

According grave inscription was Schultz Knight 1st Class of the Bavarian Order of St. Michael and was a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.

Schultz was also a member of many Fraternities: fraternity Germania in Swan Erlangen (1825), fraternity Amicitia Munich (1826 ), Old fraternity Arminia Munich ( 1827), fraternity Marcomannia Munich ( 1828) and fraternity Germania Munich (1829, founder ).
