Carlene Carter
Carlene Carter ( born September 26, 1955 as Rebecca Carlene Smith in Nashville, Tennessee) is an American country music singer.
Carlene Carter, daughter of June Carter and Carl Smith, continued in the tradition of The Carter Family in the third generation. After marriage of her mother with Johnny Cash she looked at performances of the Carter Family with as a background singer. 1976 was to hear her voice for the first time on a recording of her stepfather.
At age 16, she married Joe Simpkins, the marriage was two years later divorced shortly after the birth of daughter Tiffany Anastasia. Carter spent several semesters studying music, worked briefly as a model and married at the age of 19 John Routh. This marriage ended in divorce soon after the birth of their son Jackson Routh.
Career
In 1978, she spent a short time in Los Angeles, and then go to London, where her first record, the rock -oriented album Carlene Carter was recorded. A year later she married musician Nick Lowe, who produced her following albums Musical Shape and Blue Nun. With their singular blend of rock and country but she was ahead of her time, and the sales figures were correspondingly poor. She retired from the music back then temporarily and starred in a play with.
The marriage with Lowe held until 1985. Then Carter returned to the USA where they first again the Carter Family joined.
In 1987, Carter joined the Norwegian band CCCP, who had founded the musicians Casino Steel after his old band - Horton Steel had disintegrated. CCCP mixed variety of styles and also included the later Asia singer John Payne and the Norwegian singer Claudia Scott. Together they recorded an album of cover versions called Let's spend the night together.
In the late 1980s Carlene Carter teamed up personally and professionally with Howie Epstein together, bassist Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers.
1990, after long years of musical pause the album I Fell In Love was released, with whom you made a breakthrough in the country scene. Responsible producer was Howie Epstein, who also contributed some songs. Carter himself wrote some songs. Also on a composition of her great-uncle A. P. Carter was resorted to. Two singles made it into the country top 10. Also the following album Little Love Letters was able to continue the high quality standard.
Your time being their last album, appeared in 1995. A year later, a comprehensive compilation was with Hindsight 20/20 published. 2001 Carlene Carter was arrested in a stolen sports car; it was determined several times for possession of heroin against them. 2003 Carter was sentenced to 18 months probation.
On February 4, 2006 Carlene Carter married in Cinnamon Hill in Jamaica her fiancé, actor Joseph "Joe" Breen. As of March 2006, she was again concerts in the U.S. and on 1 July 2006, she performed on a Country Festival in Interlaken, Switzerland. At these concerts, the fans were the first to buy an early version of their new studio album Stronger, produced by her half-brother John Carter Cash.
In March 2008, the album was released in a new version, now produced by John McFee.
