Carlo Chenis

Carlo Chenis SDB ( born April 20, 1954 in Turin, † March 19, 2010 in Rome ) was an Italian religious priests and bishop of Civitavecchia - Tarquinia.

Life

After entering the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco, he laid on September 8, 1971 in Cuorgnè the first profession and studied at the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome Catholic theology and philosophy. On May 26, 1984, he received in Cuorgnè the priesthood. He received his doctorate in art history at the Università degli Studi di Torino in 1989.

Subsequently, he was Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the Salesian University in Rome. In this capacity, he taught, among others, formal logic, the philosophy of knowledge, philosophy of language and aesthetics. In addition, he held different positions in the academic administration of the University of true and was, among other things Faculty Secretary and economist and a member of the Board and the Senate. In addition, he was from 1985, Kaplan University and Ceremonies as well as from 1986 Coordinator of the Student Secretariat.

In May 1995 he was appointed member of the Preparatory Commission for Arts and Culture for the Holy Year, 2000, the coordinator he was in 1997. In July 1995, Pope John Paul II also appointed Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church. In September 1996 Chenis was also a member of the Pontifical Commission for Christian Archaeology.

On 21 December 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. bishop of the diocese of Civitavecchia - Tarquinia. The episcopal ordination donates him Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone SDB on February 10, 2007 in the Roman church of San Giovanni Bosco; Co-consecrators were Curia Bishop Mauro Piacenza and Bishop Girolamo Grillo. The solemn inauguration ( enthronement ) in the Cathedral of San Francesco d' Assisi in Civitavecchia took place on 24 February of the same year.

His episcopal motto was: intellectus et fides in caritate.

Chenis died on 19 March 2010 at the age of 55 from pancreatic cancer at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.
