Mauro Piacenza

Cardinal Mauro Piacenza ( born September 15, 1944 in Genoa, Italy ) is a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Piacenza received on 21 December 1969 Giuseppe Cardinal Siri ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Genoa. In 1973 he was Confessor of the Great Seminary, a position he held until 1978. He then became chaplain at the University of Genoa, before being appointed in 1990 to the Curia. 2000 Piacenza undersecretary of the Congregation for the Clergy.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 13 October 2003 as Titular Bishop of Victoriana and as President of the Pontifical Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church.
