Carlo Laurenzi

Carlo Laurenzi ( born January 11, 1821 in Perugia, Italy, † November 2, 1893 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal.

Laurenzi priest in 1843, studied it, the rights and in 1846 a canon at the Cathedral of Perugia. Archbishop Vincenzo Gioacchino Pecci (later Pope Leo XIII. ) Appointed him in 1847 to his Generalprovikar and 1851 as a member of the theological college. In 1853 he became a papal chamberlain in 1857 and archpriest of the cathedral chapter and main 1877 Suffragan Bishop of Perugia and Titular Bishop of Amathus in Palaestina and administrator of the Archdiocese of Perugia. He received his episcopal consecration on June 24, 1877 his patron Cardinal Pecci, the Pope it was a year. Leo XIII. summoned him to Rome in 1878 and appointed him and gave him Uditore 1880 in pectore the dignity of Cardinal. His elevation was only published in the consistory in 1884. Laurenzi was assigned as the titular church of Santa Anastasia. He was from March to October 1889 Prefect of the Congregation of Rites. In 1889 he was also treasurer of the Holy College of Cardinals. Cardinal Carlo Laurenzi died in November 1893 after a long illness.
