Carlos Jiménez

Carlos Jiménez Sánchez ( born February 10, 1976 in Madrid, Region of Madrid) is a former Spanish professional basketball player. Because of his defensive skills and leadership qualities he has long been a regular in the national team.

Career

Association

After he had played in his youth for San Viator Madrid, Jiménez in 1994 began his career in the ACB league at Estudiantes Madrid. He remained there until 2006 and won with the club in 2000 the Spanish Cup. Other achievements include reaching the finals in Korac Cup in 1999 and the Spanish vice-championship in 2004. During this time, Jiménez was elected four times to the All- Star in the ACB. In 2006 he moved to Unicaja Málaga. After five years with the Andalusians, Carlos Jiménez returned to Estudiantes, where he was the 2011/12 end his career.

National

From 1997 to 2008 Jiménez was active for the Spanish national team. He took this part in three World Championships and Olympic Games, as well as five European Championships. His greatest successes came only late by winning the World Cup in 2006 and reaching the final at the Olympic Games in 2008, when he also was captain of the team. Together with his three silver medals at the European Championships (1999, 2003, 2007 ) as well as winning the bronze medal at the European Championship 2001, he was so at the time of his career end in the national team after won medals of the most successful Spanish professional basketball player.
