Carlton Myers

Carlton Ettore Francesco Myers ( born March 30, 1971 in London, United Kingdom) is an Italian former basketball player. Myers, whose father is from the Caribbean island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and grew up in the first nine years of his life in London, heard alongside long jumper Fiona May to the Italy's most successful athletes of Afro-Caribbean descent, and is a prominent critic of the under Italian sports followers partly widespread racism '. His election as flag carrier of the Italian team at the 2000 Olympics was generally regarded as a sign against this racism.

Career

Club level

Myers began his professional career in Serie A2 at Marr Rimini, where he played from 1988 to 1992. He then moved to the Serie A1 Scavolini Pesaro to where he was top scorer of the team soon. During the following year in which he completed another season in Serie A2 Rimini, he put 87 points in a game is still a valid record in the Italian professional basketball on. From 1995 to 2001 Myers played for Fortitude Bologna.
