The Càrn Eige, sometimes Càrn Eighe is written to the highest mountain in northern Scotland, north of the Great Glen. It is in the Council Area Highland on the border between the Area Committees Inverness and Ross and Cromarty, in the former territory of the Chisholm clan. To the north of the mountain is Glen Cannich with the hole Mullardoch, Glen Affric south with the Loch Affric.

The mountain is very remote, about 10 km from the nearest major road. However, there is the Youth Alltbeithe which is somewhat closer in Glen Affric. In terms of its topographic prominence of 1148 meters the mountain Ben Nevis takes second place in the British Isles one after.
