Caroline Stam

Caroline Stam is a Dutch soprano.

Life and work

Caroline Stam received her musical training at the Amsterdam Sweelinck Conservatory with Erna Spoorenberg and Margreet Honig. After graduating, she became a master student, among other things by Elly Ameling.

She has performed in concerts in Germany, France, Spain and the UK, Koopman among others under the direction of Iván Fischer, David Willcocks and sound. She has performed at festivals such as La Folle Journée in Nantes the and the Bremen Bach Festival. In 1995, she won the " International Singing Competition of Grimsby " first prizes for soprano and for the interpretation of French songs.

Her repertoire of operatic roles include Pamina in The Magic Flute by Mozart, Clarijn in the " mirror of Venice" by Hendrik Andriessen, Ninfa in L' Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, Dorinda in Orlando by George Frideric Handel and Hélène in "Une éducation manquée " by Emmanuel Chabrier.

Caroline Stam is 1992 Member in the Amsterdam Baroque Choir since its founding. The led by Ton Koopman recordings of " Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra & Choir" of cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach, she participated as a soloist, as well as in the recording of the complete works of Dieterich Buxtehude.
