Caroline von Gomperz-Bettelheim

Caroline of Gomperzes - Bettelheim ( born June 1, 1845 in Pest, † December 13, 1925 in Vienna, actually Caroline Bettelheim ) was an Austria -Hungarian pianist and chamber singer.

Life

Caroline was ( also written as Caroline ) of Gomperzes - Bettelheim born in 1845 as the daughter of Jewish parents in Hungary. Her younger brother is the author, literary critic and journalist Anton Bettelheim.

Even as a seven year old, she accompanied her piano teacher at a public Violin Concerto. Your talent prompted the parents to be trained. She took lessons on the piano with Karl Goldmark and singing lessons with Moritz Laufer and was 14 years old her debut as a pianist. Two years later she was the first time as a singer ( alto) on a Viennese opera stage. From 1861 to 1867 she was a permanent member of the Vienna Court Opera. 1867 followed the wedding with the Chamber of Commerce President and member of the Reichstag Julius Ritter von Gomperzes ( 1824-1909 ) and the farewell to the big stage. But Caroline of Gomperzes - Bettelheim still occurred on smaller German stages.

Caroline was a longtime board member of the " Patriotic Relief Association of the Rothen crosses for Moravia ".

Your honorary dedicated tomb is located at the cemetery in Vienna Dobling (Group 32, Series 3, Number 22).
