Casekirchen is a district of the municipality Molauer country in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt.

Geography

Casekirchen lies about 9 km southeast of Naumburg ( Saale). As districts of the former municipality were Köckenitzsch ( on 1 January 1957 incorporated ) and silk joke ( on September 17, 1961 incorporated ) were reported.

History

Casekirchen was first mentioned in 977 as Cesice, 1253 then as Kaskerkene. The church was founded in very ancient times was dedicated to St. Nicaise and gave the place the name Nicasiuskirchen, from which the present place name has been contracted. The to the southeast exposed Kirchberg should already have been an ancient pagan place of worship, on which was a major idol altar. In its vicinity a number of megalithic tombs and stone weapons were found.

In a 1850 book published on the Geography of the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen reported Casekirchen: " The town has four public buildings, 19 residential and two business houses. In the resort 24 families live with 163 inhabitants. " Until 1952 the town was a part of Thuringia. Today live in Casekirchen and its two districts, Köckenitzsch and silk joke, 246 inhabitants ( 31 December 2008).

On January 1, 2010, the formerly independent communities Casekirchen, Abtlöbnitz, Leislau and Molau merged to form the new municipality Molauer country.
