Catherine of Saxe-Lauenburg, Duchess of Mecklenburg

Catherine of Saxe- Lauenburg (* 1400, † September 22, 1450 ), was mistress to Werle [- Güstrow ] and Duchess of Mecklenburg, Regent of 1422-1436.

Catherine was the daughter of Eric IV and Sophia of Brunswick- Lüneburg. She married first John VII of Werle. This already died in the year 1414. Thereby widowed, she married the Duke of Mecklenburg John IV When he died after six years of marriage in 1422, she took over the regency to 1436 in the Duchy of Mecklenburg for their minor sons.
