Cathie Craigie

Cathie Craigie (born 1954 in Stirling ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Craigie grew up in Kilsyth and attended Kilsyth Academy. Between 1984 and 1996, Craigie was councilor of the district Cumbernauld and Kilsyth and sat him in the last three years.

In the Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Craigie ran as candidate of the Labour Party for the constituency of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth. Well ahead of the candidate SNP, Andrew Wilson, she won the mandate and moved into the newly created Scottish Parliament. In the following elections in 2003 and 2007 she defended her mandate. The 2011 parliamentary elections brought a change of Deputies of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth, because the SNP politicians Jamie Hepburn was the first time to win the constituency for his party. After the massive, nationwide voice losses of the Labour Party in these elections the party was staffed largely realigned. In this context, the position of the Parliamentary manager was provided for Craigie in the shadow cabinet of the Labour Party.
