Cathy Jamieson

Cathrine Mary Jamieson, Cathy Jamieson usually ( born November 3, 1956 in Kilmarnock ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

Jamieson visited the James Hamilton Academy in Kilmarnock, and then studied at the Glasgow School of Art then moved to the Goldsmiths College, University of London, to the connection to a degree from the field of social sciences at the University of Glasgow and a management degree at Glasgow Caledonian University purchase. In the following years, Jamieson worked as a social worker in child and youth services.

Political career

In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999 Jamieson first came to elections at the national level. She applied to the direct mandate of the constituency of Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley and was able to win by a wide margin against the SNP candidate Adam Ingram. In 2001 she was appointed Secretary of State for Education and young people. After Jamieson defended its mandate for the Scottish Parliament in the parliamentary elections in 2003, she was appointed Secretary of State for Justice. Despite vocal losses Jamieson won in the 2007 parliamentary elections once again the direct mandate of their constituency. In the shadow cabinet of the Labour Party, she was first as Minister of Health, Minister of Housing as provided later and recreation.

Since 2000, Jamieson was deputy parliamentary leader of the Labour Party, but resigned in 2008. In the same year, she was a candidate in the elections for the party presidency, but lost to Iain Gray. After the Labour MPs in the British House of Commons, Des Browne announced to the general election in 2010 to take up no more time, Jamieson was intended to be the successor to its constituency Kilmarnock and Loudoun. At the general election in 2010, she won by a clear margin the direct mandate of the constituency and moved first into the British House of Commons.
