Cave of Forgotten Dreams ( Original title: Cave of Forgotten Dreams ) is a 3D documentary by German director Werner Herzog in 2010.

The film shows check out Werner Herzog's Chauvet Cave in southern France with a three-man film crew. The unique cave paintings, handprints, bones and crystal formations music Malt shown to Werner Herzog describes his own impressions. Production

Werner Herzog was fascinated since childhood by a cave painter. For the general non-public Chauvet cave, he received a special permit. The team was allowed to rotate on six days each only four hours and was not allowed to leave the metal catwalk on the ground. In addition, protective suits had to be worn. The premiere of the documentary was on 13 September 2010 at the Toronto International Film Festival.
