The Aéroport international Félix Éboué ( IATA code CAY, ICAO code SOCA until 2012 Aéroport Cayenne - Rochambeau ) is the international airport of the French overseas departments of French Guiana. It lies approximately 16 kilometers southwest of the capital Cayenne.

The airport was built in 1943 under Governor Jean Rapenne for the United States Army Air Forces. During a visit of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy in January 2012, the airport was officially awarded after the colonial politician Félix Éboué. Eboue, Cayenne native, during the Second World War, was a leader of the Free French in Africa.

Airlines and destinations

The airport is not served directly from German speaking countries. Air France and Air Caraïbes fly him via Paris -Orly. Air France also fly to Pointe -à- Pitre. Air Caraïbes operated from here in Fort-de -France in Martinique, Pointe -à- Pitre, Port -au -Prince in Haiti, Santo Domingo, Macapa and Belem in Brazil. Air Guyane Express connects it to various domestic destinations.
