The Celebrity Eclipse is a cruise ship owned by Celebrity Cruises.

History

The ship was built on behalf of Celebrity Cruises at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg and completed in spring 2010. The amounts docked in February 2010 Celebrity Eclipse is one of the Solstice - class and was transferred on 11 March 2010 on the Ems to Eemshaven. From Eemshaven several test and test drives with Meyer shipyard employees were performed. The delivery took place on 15 April 2010 in Eemshaven, Netherlands.

The ship was on the initiative of Germany in March 2010 - Land of Ideas Award as the most energy-efficient cruise ship in the world.

Particulars

The Celebrity Eclipse is about 317 meters long, 36.80 meters wide and has a draft of up to eight meters. The ship has been surveyed with 121 878 GT. Of the 17 decks of the ship are 13 passenger decks that are available to a maximum of 3145 passengers. There are 1426 cabins available. The Celebrity Eclipse is the third ship of the Solstice Class.

At her initial start in Warnemünde on 10 May 2010 it was the largest ever cruise ship, which visited the Baltic port. The Celebrity Eclipse is between spring and autumn in Europe from Southampton go. She visited ports in the Baltic, the fjords in Norway, Iceland, and the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands. In winter it offers longer cruises to the Caribbean.

Use

Since its entry into Southampton is her home port during the summer season. She is the only ship in the Solstice class, which is on the way also in northern Europe - so ports in the Baltic Sea and since 2012 also in Norway and Iceland are visited. In the fall of Mediterranean and Canary Islands are visited, in the winter the ship in the Caribbean is on the way.

Drive

The drive of the Celebrity Eclipse consists of two controllable Azipods the manufacturer ABB. The energy demand is met by four diesel engines of type MAN Diesel & Turbo SE 14V48/60CR. The top speed is about 24 knots.
