History
The establishment of the State Stud in Celle, was arranged by the decree of July 27, 1735 by George II, King of England and Elector of Hanover. It was one of the institutions, in addition to the penitentiary and the upper court of appeals, which were intended as compensation for the relocation of the residence of the Electors of Celle to Hannover. Purpose of this device was to provide farmers a small fee to cover their good stallions mares, but also to the needs of the cavalry to cover in horses that have been introduced so far mainly from England. The breeding experiences of England taking advantage of English thoroughbreds were purchased to improve the people working in agriculture and in Fuhrwesen, heavy warmblood horses. The creation and establishment of the state stud was up to the minister Gerlach Adolph von Munchausen, who also served as United Vogt of Celle since 1732.

Beginning in 1735 with a stallion stock of 13 stallions of the Holsteiner breeding area had the State Stud in 1800 already about 100 stallions that were annually sent to 50 breeding stations. Around this time was also begun to apply the descendants of the state stud stallions, origin for the foal. Thus the basis for the Hanoverian horse breeding was laid. 150 years later 34,000 mares were of 560 Landbeschälern the land studs Celle, Osnabrück- Eversburg (founded in 1925) and Harzburg Büntheim (founded in 1815) covered. In 1960/ 61, the stud Osnabrück and Harzburg were disbanded and taken over the colts and headcount from Celle state stud. In 1960 were covered by 179 stud stallions only 4240 mares. From 1958 to 1979 Christian von Stenglin served as equerry the State Stud. Under his leadership, the State Stud mastered this existential crisis: The conversion of the stallion portfolio and focus on a sports Warmblood horse, he laid the foundations for the modern Hanoverian horse breeding.
On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the State Stud in 1985, the bronze sculpture " stallion euphony in the liberty horses " was established. She was first on the parade ground at the State Stud and was placed by the stallion parades in the park.

Stallion breeding stud Hunnesrück
In addition to the private stallion rearing stallion rearing the stud Hunnesrück is a mainstay supplementing the stallion stock. Near the town of Dassel located at the foot of the Solling, it serves the rearing of about 40 colts per year.
Stallion Testing Institute Adelheidsdorf
In Celle the Stallion Testing Institute Adelheid village is a 32 -acre training ground. 1973, a central horses center was set up on the grounds of the National Stud. Stallion stock

Celle stallion parades
At the last two weekends in September and the first weekend in October, the Celle stallion parade found on the farm.
