Sagres is a Portuguese beer brand. It exists since 1940 and, together with the major Portuguese Super Bock beer brands.

History

The umbrella group founded in 1934 under the name Central de Cervejas is the Sociedade Central de Cervejas e Bebidas, SA. Seat of the brewery is Vila Franca de Xira near Lisbon. Until the Portuguese revolution on April 25, 1974, the Central de Cervejas was a large group of brewers under the leadership of Manuel vinhas. At that time, the Angolan Cuca, the Mozambican Laurentiana and parts belonged to the Brazilian brand Skol to the group. The brewery group was disbanded in the wake of the economic policy after the Carnation Revolution and part - nationalized.
