Central Plaza (Hong Kong)

The Central Plaza on Harbour Road in Hong Kong's Wan Chai district of North is 374 meters and 78 storeys currently the third tallest building in Hong Kong after the International Commerce Centre ( 484 meters) and the Two International Finance Centre (412 meters).

Description

The tower was built in three phases; the floors B3 to 27 have already been completed in 1991, followed in the second phase, the floors 28-45 to February 1992, and finally the last 32 floors to August 1992. Here the land was more expensive than the building itself at its opening in 1992 it was the tallest building in Asia, lost his title in 1996 but already again, as the Shun Hing Square was completed.

After the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, the Skydeck on the 46th floor was closed for safety reasons. In the meantime, however, it is again accessible.

On the top floor that stands out with its characteristic pyramidal atrium from the sea of ​​houses, the Community Church Hong Kong is located - the highest church in the world in a building. At night, the entire Central Plaza is illuminated with colorful neon lights.

For a time, the Central Plaza, the tallest building in the world with a pure reinforced concrete structure. In 1997, however, he was surpassed by the 390 meter high CITIC Plaza in Guangzhou, in the meantime, in turn, had to give this rank to the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago (opened 423 meters, 2009).
