Charles A. Ford

Charles Arthur Ford ( born 1950 in Oakwood, Dayton, Ohio) is an American diplomat. He was the United States Ambassador in Honduras and an adviser to James G. Stavridis, as this the United States Southern Command headed.

Life

His mother is Wanda Ford, he is white and heterosexual. He attended Oakwood High School and won in 1968 by the World Affairs Councils of America, a scholarship for a trip to Spain where Francisco Franco ruled.

He was bachelor degree in economics from the College of William & Mary in 1975 and a Masters in Latin American Studies at George Washington University in 1972. He joined in 1982 under Ronald Reagan in the Foreign Service, and has extensive experience in Latin America collected.

He was accredited as a commercial attaché in Buenos Aires, Madrid, Guatemala City, Caracas and in Brussels in the EU. His diplomatic career has been honored with numerous awards to these, the Silver Medal by the U.S. Department of Commerce for his help for the U.S. economy in penetrating the markets of the countries in the area of the former Soviet Union and a bronze medal belongs for his work in the U.S. Mission to the EU.

Ambassador to Honduras

On 8 November 2005, Ford presented his credentials to the administration of George W. Bush to the government of Ricardo Maduro.

On November 13, 2005 Honduras parts were damaged by the storm Gamma, which Ford said his government on 18 November 2005 as a disaster. In his tenure as Ambassador, he was involved in the implementation of a five-year development program for half a billion dollars in executive function. With the establishment of Palmerola Air Base located Honduras has blossomed from the backyard of the United States to its unsinkable aircraft carrier in the region. For the region originated with the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela a more attractive foreign trade concept as DR-CAFTA its representative in Tegucigalpa was Ford. Mid-July 2008 celebrated Manuel Zelaya, Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega in Managua, July 19, 1979 the 29th Anniversary of the Anastasio Somoza Debayle had to go into exile in Florida. Shortly thereafter, Zelaya announced that Honduras will join the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas. Ford did manifest then that he knew that a significant proportion of remittances, which were transferred from the U.S. to Honduras, had been acquired through drug trafficking. Ford further stated that he had, often felt attacked since he took office in 2005. Zelaya said that the U.S. was the main cause of drug smuggling Latin America and the Caribbean. Zelaya speculated Ford was belligerent, because Honduras has diplomatic relations with Caracas, Havana and Managua. Just because Honduras receives U.S. aid, it does not mean that his country was a vassal of the northern benefactors. Zelaya then complained to the U.S. about supported coups, invasions and uprisings throughout Central America. Zelaya was not good to talk to diplomats and Ford revealed that this his government had proposed to grant Luis Posada Carriles in Honduras political asylum, and Zelaya had refused to do so.

Ford is married to Lillian Ford, their children are Monica Anna and Michael Arthur Ford
